History of EuropeanScrum
+ European Scrum was founded with a clear vision—to drive the adoption and advancement of Agile methodologies across Europe and beyond. Established as a non-profit organization, European Scrum began its journey by recognizing the growing need for frameworks that promote flexibility, collaboration, and innovation in product and project development.
Origins and Early Development
+ European Scrum was born out of a shared passion for Agile principles and the desire to address the challenges faced by organizations in adopting modern, adaptive processes. Early initiatives focused on providing training and certifications in Scrum, Kanban, and Lean methodologies to help businesses streamline their workflows and deliver higher value.
+ In 2005, a group of four individuals from different countries (Germany, United States, Spain, and Switzerland), who studied in Germany and worked together in various German companies, created the European Scrum Community of Practice in a grassroots, non-profit manner. They aimed to deploy this wonderful Scrum framework in Europe across many companies and different sectors, primarily in Germany, Switzerland, and Spain, and later referred to themselves as European Scrum.
+ Later that year, some of the original authors, as well as additional individuals, saw the benefit of a more permanent organization. As a result, they formed European Scrum as an organization to disseminate information about Scrum.
+ Currently, EuropeanScrum.org focuses on improving Agile and all associated frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, Design Thinking, Agile Coach, and Agile HR, applying them across different sectors (IT, Banking, Chemistry, Pharma, Engineering, Mechanical, etc.).
Growth and Expansion
+ Since its inception, European Scrum has experienced steady growth, expanding its reach across sectors and industries. By forming partnerships with universities, businesses, and training centers, the organization quickly became a hub for knowledge-sharing and professional development.
+ European Scrum's impact grew significantly as it introduced innovative methodologies like Design Thinking, Agile HR, and Agile Coaching, ensuring its offerings stayed relevant to evolving business needs. With a commitment to quality and excellence, it built a reputation for providing internationally recognized certifications and resources.
Milestones
A Legacy of Innovation and Excellence
+ When European Scrum was created, all work was done through initiatives that ran independently, in addition to oversight from its volunteer board.
+ EuropeanScrum's work has been showcased through its set of trainings, conferences, and focused training aimed at bringing the Agile community together to share ideas and experiences, and to improve.
+ As the Agile community has grown and activities in Europe have expanded, the organization included a board staff to provide ongoing stability while still supporting the independent nature of initiatives that provide multiple benefits.
+ European Scrum continues to lead the way in Agile transformation, focusing on developing sustainable, humane, and efficient practices. It has built a thriving community of professionals dedicated to continuous improvement, collaboration, and adaptability.
+With ongoing efforts to expand its reach and offerings, European Scrum remains committed to empowering individuals and organizations to succeed in an ever-changing world.
